I draw. My drawings comprise three major bodies of work:
Circles (2019 to present)
Autobiography (2010 to 2018)
Plants (2000 to 2016)
I’m interested in psychological ideas about the artist’s process. I believe drawing is a conscious and unconscious act where internal and external worlds meet.
Circles I’ve been drawing concentric circles since visiting Iran in 2019, inspired by mosques and early Persian bricks found at archaeological sites. Drawing circles is meditative and each completed one is imbued with feelings and emotions. I don’t use an eraser so that the human touch is evident. Many were displayed in ‘In Circles’, a solo show at Handel Street Projects London (2021) and in group shows at Patrick Heide Gallery Contemporary London (2022 & 2025), Close Ltd Somerset (2023) and Gerald Moore Gallery London (2024). There are over 50 circle drawings.
In 2023, I made a series of coloured wax circles in response to Neolithic site visits in Ireland and Scotland.
Autobiography After my father’s death in 2009, I drew memories of my childhood: my parents, the family home and personal belongings.
Plants I was commissioned by The Prince’s Foundation to draw plants at Highgrove and in Transylvania, and by the Royal College of Physicians to draw plants growing in its medicinal garden.
My work has been exhibited in UK and abroad and published in a range of books.
Engagement I give workshops and talk in galleries, museums and universities including Royal Academy of Arts, Camberwell College of Art and Freud Museum. I sit on Imperial NHS Trust Arts Committee and was visiting artist at Hammersmith Hospital in 2017 and 18. I co-founded Dust Architects, an artists’ platform in 2020, and an artists’ peer group in 2016.
